This is for students who either were absent, forgot their HW at school, or else wanted a review opportunity with a presentation, such as PowerPoints.

"Of Mice and Men" Film vs. Book

Attached is a series of questions students are to utilize to compare and contrast the Of Mice and Men book and film. We are watching the film in class Wed.-Fri. We finish watching the film on Friday, Dec. 15, and the responses will be due on Monday, Dec. 18.
NOTE: Notes are to be taken and count for points.

MM Chaps. 5-6 Reading Guide

Attached is the Chaps. 5-6 Reading Guide for Of Mice and Men. It is due Tuesday, Dec. 12. It was distributed and worked on in class starting Dec. 5.
The quiz over 5-6 is also Tuesday. 
NOTE: Remember to do the essay on the back, to include the page numbers of where you found the answers, and to NOT COPY OR ALLOW OTHERS TO COPY. 

M&M Chap 4 Reading Guide

Attached is the Chap. 4 Reading Guide for Of Mice and Men. It was distributed in class on Monday, Dec. 4, after the quiz.
The essay question is due on Thursday, Dec. 7,and the Reading Guide as a whole is due on Friday, Dec. 8, on the day of the Chap. 4 Reading Quiz.

MM Chap. 3 Four-Square chart

Attached is the Chap. 3 Four-Square, distributed and worked on in class either Thursday or Friday, Nov. 30-Dec. (depending whether the student went to Butler Tech on Friday or not). It is due on Monday, Dec. 4.

Of Mice and Men Chap 1, 4-Square

Attached is the Of Mice and Men Chapter 1 Four-Square, a series of different types of questions worked on Monday, Nov. 27, before Tuesday's quiz. 
Before the end of the bell, students were -- at minimum -- to answer Question 1 and write it out on an index card and hand it in for a grade.

MLA In-Text Citations Practice, MM Page 1

Attached are the instructions for reviewing MLA In-Text Citations that we reviewed and practiced on Monday, Nov. 20, 2017. Students reviewed the concept, then read the first 1 1/2 pages of Of Mice and Men. Students responded to the prompt using those pages as the text. There is an example responses included for comparison.

M&M Chap. 1 Reading Guide

Attached is the Of Mice and Men Chapter 1 Reading Guide. It was distributed and discussed on Monday, Nov. 20, 2017. Chapter 1 must be read by the start of class, Monday, Dec. 27. The Reading Guide will be handed in on Tuesday, Nov. 28, when we will have our first reading quiz.

Reminder: Personal Narrative Final Drafts Due Mon., Nov. 20

A quick reminder that the Final Draft of the personal narrative is due at the start of class Monday, Nov. 20, along with all related materials. 
In the following order, students should hand in:
1. The Scoresheet/Rubric
2. The final draft, along with all of the mandatory highlighting and labeling of required items
3. Rough draft #1 and completed peer edit
4. Rough draft #2 and completed peer edit
5. 5Ws and an H Planning Sheet, completed
6. Timeline Organizer, completed
7. Sensory Details/Observation Chart, completed
For those who have misplaced it, I have included a copy of the Scoresheet /Rubric.
 
REMEMBER: All printing must be done before class. The school library is open 1 hour before school, plus students may print during lunch, study halls, intervention, at home, in the Lane Library, at a neighbor ... or SEND IT TO ME IN AN EMAIL OR BRING IT TO ME IN A FLASH DRIVE BEFORE CLASS and I will print it (but not when the class is scheduled to start).
Be responsible. If you send it to me in an email, get a return email confirmation from me that I have seen your email and can open/print the file

Of Mice and Men books, annotation notes, and assignments

As a notification to parents and a reminder to students:
Students received their copy of Of Mice and Men today, Friday, Nov 17, 2017, along with an annotation guide (posted with this attachment) that they are to staple or tape into their books. 
STUDENTS MUST BRING THEIR BOOKS TO CLASS EVERY DAY. They will receive points for having it and lose points for not having it.
They will receive the Chap. 1 Reading Guide on Monday, and will receive the reading/quiz/test schedule either Monday or Tuesday (it will definitely be posted online, also).
