8th Grade Washington, D.C. Trip
Announcement: Dates and Expectations for 2025 8th Grade Washington DC Trip!

The Washington D.C. trip for the 2024-2025 school year will be Wednesday, October 22 through Saturday, October 25. Students planning to attend the Washington D.C. trip will be missing three (3) days of school, and as a result, we consider this trip to be an academic function. In order to eligible to participate in this trip, students must meet the following requirements:
- Student Fees, Fines and Charges: Any student who owes delinquent fees, fines or charges from 7th grade or previous school years is prohibited from participating until fees are paid in full, or a payment plan is established. This is district policy and will be checked by the school bookkeeper. (If you have any concerns, please contact the school bookkeeper).
- School Behavior: The student will be in good standing upon behavior review with the school administration and their academic team. This includes a review of, not only detentions and suspensions, but ANY chronic classroom infractions. 7th grade classroom behavior for the second semester will be reviewed, as well as 8th grade behavior from the beginning of the year until the date of the trip.
- Grades: The student will not earn any quarter grades that are failing (63% or lower).
- Grade checks from 4th quarter of 7th grade school year, 1st Quarter Interim and 1st quarter final grades of 8th grade school year will be conducted.
- Missing Work: The student agrees to complete all classwork they miss while on the trip.
- Trip Behavior: The student agrees to model good behavior on the trip with severe issues leading to expulsion from the trip at the student/family’s expense.
- Parents are expected to make every effort to attend the parent meeting in late September (Tentatively scheduled for Sep 24, 2025).
Students failing to meet these requirements may be forfeiting their right to attend this academic trip, and are forfeiting their deposits with the travel company Nations Classroom. If you have concerns about your child not being able to meet these expectations please do not sign your child up for the trip. The deposit is nonrefundable!
Information will be coming soon regarding a parent informational meeting in late January!
