Morning Availability Limited 4th Quarter

FYI: Beginning Monday, March 23, I will have outdoor student dropoff traffic duties in the back parking lot from 7:40-7:55 a.m. (all teachers have to take at least one before after school duty a year).
This means that I will NOT be available for random drop-ins to talk before school.
However, if you need help before school, you can make an appointment with me the day before or by email, and I can get a sub to take my traffic duties ... or you can come talk to me out in the parking lot!!!!
I will still be available during my 1st-bell plan in my office, or immediately after school in 3408 (Massie's room) or eventually back in my office (about 10 minutes later) in 3211.

Time in Computer Lab Available After School

As a reminder, the final paper is due on Wednesday, March 25.
Soooooo ... I will make myself AND a computer lab available Monday and Tuesday after school so that you can have access to computers and printers and me!!!!!
We will be in Computer Lab #3107, where we usually go to after school. I will stay as late as needed to help students with questions or computer skills.
Start making arrangements to get a ride home now.

Why We Proofread ... (A Continuing Series)

I have not run a proofreading mistake for a while, so when I saw this doozy, I had to add it.
It's bad enough to ever misspell "Louisiana," since it is a proper noun and the name of one out of only fifty states ... but to misspell it in 80-point type AND -- even worse -- misspell it on the front page of a Louisiana newspaper?
Yikes!!!

Adult Job and Volunteer Positions

Parents,

Malcolm X Protect Ourselves Questions and Text

Attached is a the second set of articles and questions dealing with the art of persuasion. This set, dealing with a famous interview with Malcolm X, was distributed in class on Wednesday, March 4.
Students are to complete the first set -- about a Martin Luther King speech -- before starting the text about Malcolm X (the MLK speech was distributed Tuesday).
The Malcolm X text originally was going to be distributed only after students showed me that they had completed the MLK speech (likely on Thursday), but I have distributed it on Wednesday on the chance that we may have a snow day Thursday.
As of right now, the two sets of questions will be due on Friday, March 6. At the latest, even with snow days, they will be due on Monday.

Reminder: Response #3 is due Thursday, March 5

Reminder: Response #3 is due Thursday, March 5.
I also need late responses for Nos. 1 & 2.

NOTE: We will be working in our room Wednesday with a computer cart, so bring a flash drive or another method of saving your work.

MLK Stride Toward Freedom Questions & Text

Attached is the text and question for MLK's "Stride Toward Freedom." Read the questions, read the text, then answer the questions. This was handed out in class on Tuesday, March 3, and worked on some in class. When each student is finished with the questions, the student is to show completed work to me, and then they will receive a second text, this one by Malcolm X. Both articles and their questions will likely be due on Friday, March 6.
The Malcolm X packet will be posted separately at a later date.

Rubric for Rhetoric Ads Poster

Attached is a rubric for a Rhetoric Ads Poster that students will be creating for class on Friday and Monday. It will be done in partners; however, if students are absent both days, they will be expected to complete the 60-point project on their own. It will be due at the start of class on Tuesday, March 3. A template for the project will be posted separately.
