Where are you from? I am originally from Indianapolis but have lived in the Fairfield area for over 40 years. Fairfield Township I was born and raised in the Hamilton/Fairfield area. I am originally from Buffalo, New York. I moved to this area with my mother in 1983.
What is your current job?  I am a clerk at FHS in the administration office but I also cover the Welcome Center and Attendance Office as needed. Educational Assistant in Mr. Bauer's room. I am the Latchkey Coordinator for the district. I am a second shift custodian at Crossroads Middle School. I have worked for the district for three years. Prior to Fairfield, I worked as a custodian for Wyoming City Schools.
What do you love about FCSD?  My siblings and I (and spouses) are all graduates of FHS as well as my own kids, and all of my nieces and nephew will be graduates - ranging from the class of 1986 through 2021. We have all been involved in either sports, music, theater, clubs, etc. since the mid 70's! What I have loved most about FCSD since my days at West Elementary has been the extra-curricular activities and the support that we (collectively) have encountered along the way. We have all dealt with some great teachers, support staff, administrators, counselors, advisers along the way and I can honestly say that I value the education that we have all received and/or are receiving. I was prepared for life after high school and was prepped and ready for college, as both of my kids were as well.  What I love most about FCSD is the support you feel not just from upper management but all your fellow co-workers! Everyone is a team player and truly makes you feel welcomed and excited to come to work everyday. I love that I have a chance to give back to the community that I grew up in by working for FCSD. I graduated from Fairfield in 2003 and returned to work for the district in 2019. I love seeing how the community and our schools have evolved over the years, and appreciate the diversity the district offers. I also love the people! The kids, the parents, the staff... I know that I've built relationships here that will be lifelong. All the differences. I like the different cultures that are represented. I like everyone!
What’s a fun fact about you?   I have two college degrees and two 21 year old's away at college. I have an active manicurist (nail tech) license in Ohio for 28 years! I have my degree in education from Miami University, but I was never a classroom teacher. I went straight into the non-profit world after college. My motto is smile everyday and treat everyone the same. Oh, and I am used to the snow having lived in Buffalo! This is nothing (here in Ohio). You haven't seen snow until you have lived in Buffalo!
Describe your job.   My office is known as the 'Pit Stop' at FHS. I process work permits, parking passes, scan records of past graduates, and a variety of other office duties that include, but are not limited to processing outgoing mail, conference scheduling, answering phones and assisting the attendance office as needed. My office is the 'waiting' area for students as they wait to speak to administration. I do impart some words of wisdom as both a mom and as a school employee and have on occasion, learned some facts about students that I have been able to share with administration as well.  My job is absolutely AMAZING! I get the opportunity to work with young adults with special needs on a daily basis. We get to go out in the community to work, have lunch, go bowling and shopping at various places. In the classroom, I get to help them grasp the concept of what is being taught, helping them learn how to cook, personal hygiene, listening to what they have to say and making sure they feel safe, loved and cared for each and every day. But the greatest part of all...is watching and being a part of something they didn't think they could achieve, but they did! This job is truly so rewarding and priceless because you made a difference in these young adults' lives and they made a difference in you. I oversee the before and after school Latchkey programs for FCSD. I make sure that all the programs remain compliant with the Ohio Department of Education School-Age Childcare regulations, ensure all staff are trained, and most importantly, make sure our kids have a safe and fun space to come to before and after school! I take care of cleaning the classrooms and other areas. If the teachers are happy then I am happy!
How does FCSD support your growth?   Flexibility - I am asked often why I don't pick something more in line with what my degrees are in and the answer is simple - it fits my life where I am at right now and fits my kids' schedules when they were students and involved with school activities...and I can't forget enjoying my summers off! FCSD supports my growth by giving me a chance and believing in me! They have listened to me and my ideas. They always provide trainings and encourage you to be more today than you were yesterday. FCSD has supported my growth by trusting me and allowing me the chance to be creative and reimagine the Latchkey program how I see fit. I've also never worked with such a supportive group of people; everyone is interested in coming together for the common interest of creating opportunities for our kids and people are always willing to help out above and beyond their prescribed job duties.  My background is in the custodial field. Most of my training has been on the job, and I keep up with the new cleaning products and new procedures. The District supports me; they do a good job. I am treated very fairly and have no complaints!
