CCR English 10 Homework and Presentations

Course Description

This is an ever-evolving page for Mr. Braam's 2019-20 CCR English 10 classes, Bells 1-3, 6-7.
It will have homework (if possible to electronically post), and various presentations that are made in class (again, if possible to post electronically). It is for students who were either absent, or forgot to bring home items that they need to be able to work. It is the practical, day-to-day page, while my main page will have announcements, tips, student examples, etc..
You can check in here directly on a daily basis, or -- if you subscribe -- you will receive one email each day that I post something new. The email will include a link and explanation. This is an excellent way for parents to keep up on what we are doing!

Reminder: All Late Work Due By Monday

Just as a reminder, please remember that all late work is due by Monday, Oct. 21, by the end of the day (or whenever I leave the building, whichever comes later). If you need to work on items, you can work in my room after school.
This has been announced in class daily and posted on the board every day for the last two weeks.

P.P.S. We read Act 1, Scene 3 in class Monday.

Macbeth Act 1, Scene 1: Meet the Witches Compare-Contrast

Attached is a video I created that shows nine different versions of Act 1, Scene 1 of Macbeth. It is called Meet the Witches, and it is a compare-contrast exercise that is used in conjunction with a worksheet (also posted). Students first try to translate the text and figure out what is happening, then watch/take notes for each version. At the end, students then respond to five prompts.
The exercise was distributed, discussed and worked on in class on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019, and will continue on Wednesday. The completed responses and notes will be turned in Thursday.

Be aware that grades were posted late this week, and may drastically change between now and then, particularly if a student turns in late work (or fails to hand in something else!)
For the most-current grades, always check in Progressbook!

The Rambling Autobiography assignment was due at the start of class on Wednesday, Feb. 18.
Students were ALSO to highlight one apiece of each of the eight parts of speech, and then label each part. This counts as two separate assignments!

Parts of Speech 2019

Attached is a PowerPoint for an exercise we did in class. Students on one side of a worksheet (also posted) were to write down what they remembered about the parts of speech. Then we watched a PowerPoint and they took notes as to what the Parts of Speech actually were.
NOTE: THIS SHOULD BE REVIEW OF KNOWLEDGE THEY HAVE BEEN TAUGHT SINCE 2ND GRADE!!!!
We are reviewing this so students can be taught more difficult concepts such as adverbial clauses and noun phrases, etc.
