Rounding third and headed for home are four Fairfield softball seniors and the team's senior public address announcer.
On Tuesday, May 11, Rachel Campbell, Clara Bultman, Jade Carroll. Amanda Reeder, and Greg Sharpshair were honored before the Lakota West game. Each one walked out with their parents, then lined up along the third-base line to be acknowledged by the crowd and for the singing of the National Anthem.
The Indians, coached by FHS teacher Brenda Stieger, finished the regular season in fifth place in the Greater Miami Conference with a 10-8 record, 12-11 overall.
The girls won their first-round tournament game Monday 6-5 in extra innings over Talawanda. Tourney play continues tonight (Wed., May 12) against Winton Woods at Creekside Middle School at 5 p.m.
Fairfield lost Tuesday, 16-1, against a powerhouse Lakota West team (17-0, 24-1) that has outscored opponents 316-32.
