Important letter to my kids!

Dear Roark Students,

I am here to tell you, YOU are more valuable than a cell phone, you are worth more than social media and your education brings you value NOT the amount of likes you have on a post.  Cell phones are a distraction in the classroom and are limiting the important social interaction you can have with each other.  It is time you take your responsibility as a student seriously.  When you walk out of my class at the end of the year I want you to know you are better communicators, thinkers, readers and writers and I feel the cell phones have stopped your progress in an unacceptable way.  I will fight for you in all ways to make sure you get the education you deserve.  You are important, valuable citizens of this county and it is time you take that seriously and SNAP CHAT, FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM are not helping you better yourselves.  For the rest of this year keep your cell phones turned off and put away.  If I see your phone out I will have it taken to the office for safe keeping and you will pick it up at the end of the day.

So, starting tomorrow the distraction of the cell phone will not be tolerated in the classroom; learning to be better readers, writers, thinkers, communicators and citizens will take precedent and we will work hard to continuously increase bettering ourselves – I don’t want you to be the best in the class, I want you to be the BEST - YOU!

Your teacher – who really cares,
