Geometry

Advanced Geometry will prepare students for Advanced Algebra II. This course is the second course in the Ohio Learning Standards that utilizes real-world situations, models, and technology to foster connections among algebra and geometry applications. The course provides students with the opportunity to develop concepts from multiple perspectives. Geometry teaches congruence, similarity, right triangles, trigonometry, circles, expressing geometric properties with equations, geometric measurement and dimension, and modeling with geometry to further student understanding of mathematical concepts. The Mathematical Practice Standards apply throughout the series of courses and, together with the content standards, prescribe that students experience mathematics as a coherent, useful, and logical subject that makes use of their ability to make sense of problem situations. Geometry may be taken only upon successful completion of Algebra I. A graphing or scientific calculator is required.
