This year's theme will be "Embracing The Olympic Spirit".  Students will learn about the meaning of the Olympics and it's focus on friendship, giving your best effort, and enjoying the journey of improvement!
 
The Olympic Creed:
 
"The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle.  The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well."- Pierre de Coubertin
 
The meaning of the Olympic Rings:
The five interlocking rings symbolize the five continents of the world linked together in FRIENDSHIP.                                                                                                                        
In order to have the best experience in P.E. every student will need to:
 
  • Have good attendance
  • Come prepared with gym shoes and appropriate clothing to participate
  • Participate in all activities
  • Give their best effort and choose to have a good attitude
  • Respect themselves, others, and the environment
  • Make safe choices and follow directions
Students are evaluated in the following areas set forth by the Ohio Department of Education:
  • STANDARD 1 Demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns.
  • STANDARD 2 Applies knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies and tactics related to movement and performance.
  • STANDARD 3 Demonstrates the knowledge and skills to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical activity and fitness.
  • STANDARD 4 Exhibits responsible, personal and social behavior that respects self and others.
  • STANDARD 5 Recognizes the value of physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and/or social interaction.
