FIS Cultural Diversity Alliance
Dear Parents/Guardians/Community Members,
At Fairfield Intermediate School we believe that one of our strengths is our culturally diverse population. We believe that all children from all backgrounds can learn and achieve to their full potential. Holding to these beliefs, we work to promote an atmosphere of acceptance, and we take action in the face of prejudice and discrimination. We believe that diversity empowers great schools, and great communities.
To ensure we are teaching our children, and ourselves, to live, learn, and work together in a vibrant and diverse world we are assembling a team comprised of staff and parents known as FIS Cultural Diversity Alliance. You are invited to join the FIS CDA. This team will have several responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Discussing and brainstorming what FIS can do to promote student engagement with diversity activities
To read, reflect, and discuss articles about racial equity within schools
To discuss issues facing FIS and continue to make strides in creating an environment that is welcoming and enriching for all members of the FIS family
These responsibilities are very important and this team will have a direct impact on the success of all our students. I strongly urge you to consider being a part of the FIS Cultural Diversity Alliance. Your thoughts and ideas would be very valuable. We will be meeting in the second floor Cafeteria at FIS from 6:00- 7:00 p.m. on October 28, January 26 and March 22. Please contact me at email@example.com or 829-4054, and let me know if you will be able to join us. I look forward to hearing from you!
