High School sophomores will now have access to busing next school year. After researching state transportation regulations, we found that it is permissible to transport a portion of our students to and from school. We decided on sophomores only because many are not eligible to drive themselves to school. We believe this will have a positive impact for approximately 800 families at the High School. Parents of children in grades K-10 can look forward to an additional year of transportation service that we hope will ease their concerns.
The cost to provide this service will be approximately $175,000 per year. This cost includes, fuel, maintenance of buses and hourly rates for drivers. We will not need to hire additional drivers or purchase buses to make this happen.  Another positive of this recommendation is that traffic congestion issues in the area will be significantly reduced during drop-off and pick-up.
