From the Desk of Jenni Hensler, PTC President
May 5th - 9th is Staff Appreciation Week. The PTC has planned some "sweet" surprises for the staff next week. You should have also received a "top secret" letter with a project for your child to help us with next week's celebration. There are almost 80 people on staff at FF North that are committed to our children and their education. Please take the time to thank them for their commitment.
There is another group of people at FF North that are committed to our children and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them. That group is you, the parents and grandparents who have volunteered countless hours and enabled us to accomplish much this year. Here are just some of our accomplisments
- You have helped us to help others by supporting our "Make a Difference" week, our "Pennies for Patients" campaign, and our "Be a Dear" donations before the holidays. You have collected pull-tabs for the Ronald McDonald House, and are currently involved in the "It's in the Bag" food drive. All of these efforts have been extremely successful.
- You have supported our Family nights, our skating parties, Santa Shop, Breakfast with a Book, and the Carnival. I'm sure that I will see many of you at the Ice Cream Social on May 30th and at Max & Erma's on May 20th.
- We have been able to provide our students with assemblies such as Madcap Theater and Arithmetickles. On Thursday, May 8th, author Charley Hoce will entertain our students with his children's books and that evening the parents are invited to attend. We have provided limo rides and Student of the Month lunches. Our "Reading Counts" store has been open each month for our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders to spend the points that they have earned by reading.
- We have also purchased many items for the school. We have purchased 6 classroom sets of calculators. We replaced one of the Ellison machines and bought several new die cuts for each grade level. A wireless mic was purchased. All new students have received a "Welcome to North" bag filled with school supplies and information about our school. We are currently in the process of purchasing 3 additional Smart boards and at the May PTC Meeting (May 13th) we will be voting to donate money to our library for the purchase of new Reading Counts books. Later this month, we will be awarding a scholarship to a Fairfield High School Senior who attended North.
Thank you to everyone who helped to make all of this possible. We are extremely fortunate at FF North to have not only a very committed staff, but parents who are always ready to lend a helping hand whenever they are asked.

HOLKA POLKA!
It is that time of year again for our school play. This year, the play is called "Holka Polka." In this action-packed, fun-filled show, Brenda, the sweetest witch, is asked by the other witches to do a little PR work! They ask her to figure out who is out to get the prince and how to save him to the witches a better name. She gets the help of many colorful characters along the way and teaches everyone that magic comes in many forms. The play will be held at the Fairfield Community Arts center on Friday, May 9th at 7 PM. The tickets go on sale April 28th and are $2 each. They can be purchased by calling the Fairfield Community Arts Center at 867-5348. The students have been practicing since January and are currently working on costumes and set design. So come out and support your fellow students by attending the play. Tickets are first come, first server!
Thank You
