Mrs. Herzog's class

Students in Ms Herzog's 7th grade history classes participated in a pilot of two lessons from UNICEF. The lessons introduced students to the many ways armed conflicts all over the world disrupt children's lives. Students watched a video describing the life of "Martha" a teen who lost both parents to war in Sierra Leone. They also learned about children who are excluded from access to school, housing, immunizations and sanitation because of war. Feedback about the lessons for UNICEFwas collected in surveys before and after the lessons. Nora Offei commented, " I didn't realize that UNICEF helped children after the war in their town was over." Heather Kauffman agreed," I was impressed that they offer art activites to help kids express their feelings." Roemone Barnette added, "I had no idea how much they helped children in so many different places in the world."
