There has been a change in the school calendar for the 2008-09 school year. The first day of school for students is now Thursday, Aug. 28. This is one day later than previously scheduled.
Also, students will now attend school on Sept. 17. Previously, this had been scheduled as an in-service day, when students do not attend school.
The reason for these changes is to add a teacher workday to the calendar. Our teachers will now work on Wednesday, June 10, one day after students finish classes. This will help provide time to finish the many year-end tasks in the classroom.
At the Kindergarten Center, individual student assessments are done during the first three days of school, and the entire school does not attend together until the assessments are complete. Parents of kindergarten students will be contacted by the school regarding the time and date for their child’s assessment.
New school calendars that reflect these changes are being printed and will be distributed as soon as possible.
For further information, please call the district’s central office, at 829-6300. The central office is open throughout the summer, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
