and physical growth of all students. |
| BE EXCELLENT! |
| Fairfield East is proud to announce the EXCELLENT rating our school has achieved! This accomplishment is due to the endless support and hard work given by the employees, students, parents, community members, and business partners to ensure that our students succeed. We are so fortunate and thankful to have such dedicated supporters! |

Changes for the 2008-2009 School Year
Ms. Maureen Meyer who served as East's assistant principal since 2002, is now serving the Fairfield City School District as an assistant principal at our Intermediate Building. The entire Fairfield East Family would like to thank miss Ms. Meyer for all of her hard work and dedication for the students, families, and staff at Fairfield East. You will be missed!
Paige Gillespie will be joining the Fairfield East Community as our new assistant principal. She will be joining us from Central Elementary, where she served as a teacher and as an assistant principal. She was instrumental in helping lead Fairfield Central to their "excellent" rating, and we are very excited to have her on the leadership team at Fairfield East!

| Student Absences |
A
new e-mail address has been established for attendance
purposes. Parents may now use the following address
to report student absences: eastattendance@fairfieldcityschools.com If
received by 9:30 a.m. on the morning of the absence,
the e-mail notification will serve as both a call in
and a parent note. This email address is an option
we are providing for your convenience. Parents may
still choose to call in to report student absences
by 9:30 a.m. on the day of the absence and send a note
with the child when he/she returns. We need to receive
written notification of a child's absence within 3
days of the child's return to school in order for the
absence to be considered excused. Please continue to
ask for written verification of any doctor/dentist
visits, funerals, court dates, etc. and send them in
with your child on the day he/she returns to school.
Good attendance is critical for success in school.
If you
have any questions regarding our new e-mail notification
system, please call Karen Anderson at the school office,
737-5000.

| Character Counts... |
 |
At East Elementary School we believe it is important not only to help our students excel academically, but to help their character grow as well. Each month we focus on teaching our students the importance of good character through lessons, modeling, and daily announcements. We recognize and award students for showing good character through in their daily actions and choices. Each month we focus on learning about a different character trait that will make each of us better people and make East Elementary a happy and safe place to be! |

| Help Us Collect Box Tops For Education... |
 |
This year's goal is to raise $2000 to purchase many wonderful things for our children to enjoy at school. Here are some easy ways to help:
1. Clip Box Tops from hundreds of participating products. Each label we collect is worth 10 cents for our school.
2. Clip the entire Tyson Project A+ labels from participating Tyson products. Each label we collect is worth 24 cents for our school.
We collect them all year and earn money
with every one!!
Let’s keep it up! That means more supplies, books,
computers, etc. for our school!

| Fairfield East Needs You |
 |
We are looking for friendly volunteers from the community to come and be a part of the great things we are doing here at Fairfield East Elementary School through a program called OHIO READS. OHIO READS is a program that allows parents, senior citizens, business workers, and other community members to come together |
 |
| and
support children's reading efforts. As a volunteer,
you would be supporting the teacher by providing one
on one reading time with a child. You would be reading
aloud with the child helping them begin to feel more
confident as a reader. If you are willing and able to
help our school by volunteering to spend 20 to 30 minutes
at least once every two weeks reading with a child, please
contact: Christa Davis at 737-5000 Ext. 502 or davis_c@fairfield-city.k12.oh.us Thanks in advance for helping our students read to succeed! |
