LATHCKEY PROGRAM
Before and After School Care

The Fairfield City School District Latchkey Program offers before and after- school child care for children enrolled in Fairfield City Schools, grades K—8.

When:
AM Sessions of elementary Latchkey begin at 6:30am and continue until school begins for the day. PM Sessions for all Latchkey sites begin immediately following school dismissal and continue until 6:00pm.
The Latchkey Program follows the Fairfield City School District school year calendar and operates on days that school is in session; With exception of Summer Latchkey which is all summer, 6:30am to 6pm.

In the event of bad weather/ school delays or early release times the program operates on the original schedule to meet needs of adjusted school hours.
Still open at 6:30am and children are released to Latchkey when early dismissal occurs, until 6pm.

The Latchkey Program does not operate on holidays, snow days, or any other day that school is not in session.

Mission:
The mission of the Latchkey program is to provide experiences that will foster social, emotional, and intellectual growth of each child.

Eligibility:
Children of Fairfield residents, enrolled in the District in grades K-8 for the current school year are eligible to participate for enrollment.

Enrollment:
Registrations will be accepted for those children eligible in the order received until the maximum number of spaces allowable by ODE guidelines are filled. Children will attend Latchkey within the school they attend.

Kindergartners attend home school Latchkey site and are bused to and from the Kindergarten Center. There is no ½ day Latchkey program for kindergartners at this time. AM kindergartners are enrolled before school at their home school and they are bused to the Kindergarten Center. PM kindergartners are bused to their home school when kindergarten lets out for the day. (Home school is where the child will attend 1-4 grades.)

Activities with in the Program:
Activities offered during the Latchkey Program include, but are not limited to, crafts, physical activity including both inside and outside play, homework assistance, music, dramatic play, cooking and more.

Activities are designed with the Latchkey mission in mind to provide experiences that foster social, emotional, and intellectual growth. All children are encouraged to participate in activities to the level which they feel comfortable.

All Latchkey Sites are licensed child care sites meeting requirements of the Ohio Department of Education Child Care Licensing Division.

All Latchkey staff are trained child care professionals with current trainings in First Aid, CPR, Communicable Disease and Child Abuse Recognition.

 

Summer Latchkey:
Summer Latchkey operates Monday –Friday 6:30am-6pm, with exception of July 4th.
Sites are open at East, South, and West for students K-4th going in to 5th.Students going into 5th grade have the option to stay at elementary or attend the Intermediate site. All students 6--8 grades must attend the Intermediate site. Students going into kindergarten the following school year must be at least six years of age to enroll.

Field trip are scheduled for every Tues. Wed. & Thurs. both local and distance trips (ex. The Beach, putt-putt, FF aquatic, local area parks including educational programs; as well as the Cincinnati Art Museum, Nature Center, and Museum Center.)  

Morning and afternoon snacks are provided. Brown bag lunch must be brought daily unless noted.
