The Fairfield City School District has earned an “Effective” rating for the 2010-2011 Ohio School Year Report Card.
“Obviously, we missed our goal, and we are very disappointed,” said Superintendent Paul Otten, who began his tenure August 1. “This data will help us focus our effort for this coming school year. It is our desire to earn the highest possible rating each and every year. Our teachers, administrators, and support staff worked hard last year, and they will continue to strive to meet the needs of all of our students.”
In comparison to the 2009-2010 school year, the district met 25 indicators on the 2009-2010 Report Card, and met 23 in 2010-2011. The district experienced a slight increase in the performance index as it rose from 99.0 to 99.1.
“The plan for the coming year is to pinpoint individual student needs by using research-based instructional strategies as well as refining our use of Teacher Based Teams., said Lani Wildow, district Curriculum Director. In a Teacher Based Team, teachers collaborate with their peers to review student data and make instructional decisions that improve student achievement.
“This is an aggressive professional development plan that will take a collaborative effort to implement,” Wildow said. “Everyone who works in our district wants to see Fairfield’s students experience success.”
