KAREN JOHNSON
“I have known Karen as a student for 3 years in Latin II, Latin III and Advanced Placement. She is very conscientious and dedicated young woman who is always prepared for class. She truly enjoys learning and challenging herself in various academic and creative pursuits. I think that Karen is a perfect example of a Renaissance young woman because her talents and interests are so varied. She is an active member of Latin Club, Academic Team, Film Club and Drama Club. She is musical and articstic. She painted a mural on a school wall, has written and read poetry at the Lane Library, acted in school plays and won the “Outstanding Witness” award at Ohio Mock Trial District Competition. After high school, Karen plans to attend college and major in East Asian languages. She loves language learning! Last spring, she learned Mandarin Chinese through an online course from Michigan State University!”

CONGRATULATIONS KAREN!

DEPARTMENT GOALS

French will be striving to revamp their curriculum in French 2, therefore making changes in subsequent levels. They will make changes to the curriculum maps as they do so.

All of the upper level teachers will begin (if not already doing so) grading writing assignments with assistance of the AP rubric in order to align ourselves with AP guidelines.

Each discipline will continue to work together on curriculum issues to assure that everyone is on the same page and will also make changes to the common exams cooperatively each term.

The dept. will continue to incorporate technology into lesson planning.
