2011-2012

From the Desk of Kari Robinson, PTC President

Wow!  What a busy October we had here at North!
Our two-week Make a Difference food drive for the Fairfield Food Pantry collected 2,790 pounds of food which is equal to $5,720!  The generosity of the North community never ceases to amaze me.  There are many families with stocked cupboards thanks to you.  You all should feel very proud!  Congratulations to Mrs. Plaugher’s class for collecting the most with 321 food items!  They will be treated to a pizza party this month.  Thank you to all volunteers who came in every morning to collect and count the items!
Once again, Mrs. Begley did an outstanding job putting on another successful Book Fair.  The kids just love to be able to shop for quality books themselves right at school.  If you missed your chance to shop, don’t worry, she will be having another in the spring!
This year we held our first annual Masquerade March Walk-a-Thon.  We kicked it off with a masquerade mask decorating contest.  We collected over 400 masks and each and every one was just amazing!  Ms. Montgomery chose the winners and you definitely did not make her job easy.  Congratulations to everyone.
The rest of the month the students collected pledges for the Walk-a-Thon.  All together they collected an outstanding $14,000!  They went above and beyond any of our expectations!  The North PTC gets 100% of it to help benefit our students and community. The Walk-a-Thon on the 28th went off without a hitch.  All of the students walked the track at their recess and jammed to the music provided by D.J. Corey Calla.  It was wonderful to see our Fairfield Township Firefighters out there supporting our kids while they walked.  The kids were very excited to see them!
All of the students looked so great in their costumes. It was almost impossible to choose the winners.
The teachers and staff also looked great in their costumes.  I had to choose a group winner and it wasn’t easy, but I chose the “Specials Teachers.”  They dressed up as Wizard of Oz and even had the flying monkeys!  Congrats to them and they will get a catered lunch provided by Flavors Restaurant.
Help your planet while helping your school at the same time!
For the whole month of November we are having a magazine drive.  Students may bring in magazines, catalogs, phonebooks and newspapers.  Everyday each class will measure their progress.
We are having a first skating party of the year on Nov. 17 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Skatetown USA.

In December:
Dec. 5-9: Santa Shop - Students get to visit the Santa Shop and choose items for their families.  Everything is only $2!
Dec. 9: Movie Night/Social Night - 6:30-8:30 p.m..  Let us take the kids for the evening while you get your holiday shopping taken care of!  Kindergarteners, 1st & 2nd graders will enjoy a movie in the gym.  3rd & 4th graders will be in the multi-purpose room for a “social” night.  There will be a lot of fun activities for them to enjoy!  Admission is $3 prepay or $4 at the door.

Keep collecting Box Tops, Campbell Soup Labels and Coke Rewards.  Please register your Kroger Plus Card on labelsforeducation.com so we can collect e-points every time you buy something with your Plus Card that has a Campbell Soup label.

Don’t forget we also collect used ink cartridges, toner and cell phones.  The ink cartridges and toners have to be name brand (Dell, HP, etc), no remanufactured or generic (staples, office depot, etc).  Also we do not accept toner tanks.  We will, however accept any cell phones as long as they have a working battery.
