Kindergarten Center to be Closed

On March 17, 2011, the Fairfield Board of Education approved the superintendent's recommendation to close the Kindergarten Center, after the 2010-11 school year. In August 2011, students will begin attending kindergarten at the same elementary school where they will go for grades 1-4.

The Kindergarten Center is being closed as part of a cost reduction plan. It will also reduce the number of times a student must change schools between kindergarten and high school.

All-Day Kindergarten

Gov. Kasich has signed Ohio House Bill 30, removing the requirement for all-day kindergarten. The Fairfield School District will continue to offer the half-day program.


Registration

Kindergarten registration for 2011-12 began March 1 at the New Student Welcome Center. A child can register if he/she will be five years old by Sept. 30, 2011. The New Student Welcome Center is at 211 Donald Drive, in the rear of the Board of Education office.

There will be an evening registration session, at the current Kindergarten Center on Bach Lane, on May 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. Principals from all five of Fairfield's elementary schools will be there to answer questions specific to their own school. Open houses specifically for parents of kindergarten students will be held at all the elementary schools on August 16, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Please download the information letter below for details.
