List of Staff By Teams

Reminder to Parents of 6th Graders:
6TH GRADERS MUST HAVE VACCINATION TO ENTER 7TH GRADE!
The State of Ohio requires all students to have had a Tdap or TD vaccination prior to entering the 7th grade. The vaccination must have been given during the 5 year period before the first day of 7th grade. We are hoping to get these dates turned in and on the students’ medical records by the end of April, to facilitate the transition of the records to the Middle School. Those students who do not have the vaccine documented in writing by the doctor will be excluded from entering the seventh grade. Thanks to all of you who have already complied. There is still a large number of students who have NOT turned in a vaccination date. Please call nurse Kathy Zemko with questions at 829-4504, Ext. 102. These can also be faxed to the Intermediate School at 829-7447, or your child can bring to school to give to the nurse. Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.

I Can! Assembly Huge Hit for Students, Staff and Participants!

Students and staff at Fairfield Intermediate School participated in an "I Can" assembly before the holiday break.
The event focused on the character education trait, Perserverance. Students heard stories from Ricky Stone (former Reds, Astros and Dodgers pitcher, Curtis Moak (former Reds AAA baseball player), Josh Harrison (current baseball player at the Major League level for the Pirates), and Steve Kelly (former Reds baseball player) highlighting what it means to Persevere through difficult life situations. Special guests and celebrities also included Robert Jackson (former Bengals player), Fairfield Mayor Ron D' Epifanio, Paul Otten (Superintendent for FCSD), Kurt Radel (President & CEO of Fairfield Chamber of Commerce), David Fulcher (Former Bengals player), Chuck Maus (State Basketball Official), Roger Martin (Assistant Superintendent for FCSD), Kim Nuxhall (CEO of Joe Nuxhall's Character Education Foundation), Kevin Duncan (Miami-Hamilton Assistant Basketball Coach and employee of Butler County Juvenile Services), Katie Morgan & Sheila Gray (Fox 19 Morning Show Hosts), and Tyler Stegman (Wright State University public communications student). Thank you to all our special guests and to Tim Lewis and Tim Adams, who took the lead on organizing the event! Thanks also to Zach Downey for volunteering to assist with the event!

NEW SPIRIT WEAR FOR 2011

We have brand new designs for the 2011-2012 school year! Samples of these items are located inside the Fairfield Intermediate School Book Store. We also have a limited supply of discontinued items from last year that you or your child may purchase. Please print out the order form and have your student drop it off in the main office (as you enter the building). Orders are picked up weekly on Tuesdays and it typically takes about 10 days for them to arrive. They will be delivered to your child's homeroom when ready. If you are purchasing them as a gift please indicate on the order form and we will leave them at the office for you to pick up. We accept cash and checks only. If you have any questions please contact Traci
Anthony at tracianthony@cinci.rr.com or (513) 543-5354.

Support the Fairfield Schools and the Fairfield Echo
The Fairfield Echo brings Fairfield the news that's closer to home, in print every Thursday and online anytime. Now you can support the paper and the schools at the same time. For just $30 a year, you can purchase a subscription to the paper. And when you do, the paper will donate $10 to the school district. Just go to www.Fairfield-Echo.com and click on "get home delivery" to make your payment.

REMINDERS

Cell Phones:  Students bringing cell phones to school must register their phones. Registration forms are available in the grade level office. All cell phones brought to school must be registered.

Reminder to Parents:  School fees may be paid online with your credit cards. Go to www.fairfieldcityschools.com and click on SPS EZ Pay. You can set up an account with your child's student ID number. You can also add money to your child's lunch account through this program.

Lost and Found:  Has your child lost a coat, lunch box, glasses? We have Lost & Found in each grade level office and on tables in the first floor cafeteria. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you label all lunch boxes, coats, hats, etc. with your child's name. If the name is on the item, we have a system in place to get it back to the student. Lost glasses are turned in to the Main Office. Be sure to label glasses cases as well.

Tardies:  Help us prevent student tardies. Students need to arrive by 8:06 a.m. and be in their classes by 8:15 a.m. when the tardy bell rings. Remember that three tardies equals one unexcused absence and twelve unexcused absences can lead to a citation to court according to our district's attendance policy. We will be calling chronic tardy students to the office to meet with Mrs. Prince throughout the year.

Absences:  When students are absent, we ask that parents email the following address to report student absences: isattendance@fairfieldcityschools.com This will serve as both a call-in and note. Parents may also choose to call to report student absences on the day of the absence and send a note when the child returns. These emails and notes are entered into Progress Book daily but there is a delay for these excuses to appear on the screen.
Parking: If you pick your child up at the end of the school day, please be as careful as possible in the parking lot. Please watch for students who may dart across the lanes of traffic. We have someone posted outside to help, but it is not possible for them to control the movement of everyone out there. Please keep a single line of traffic in both directions. Periodically drivers get a bit impatient and form a center line of traffic. This creates a very dangerous situation for our children. Students are forced to walk through traffic in between cars to get to their ride. It also slows down the entire dismissal process and creates an unfair situation for the parents who are waiting in line. I know that the parking lot is very crowded at this time. Please be mindful of others if you are waiting in the actual parking lot. Try to park in a parking spot if at all possible. If you park in the lanes, please be mindful that others may not be able to park or to leave because your vehicle may be blocking them. Safety and courtesy are so important during these times. Thanks for making the best out of a difficult situation. Please consider using our school busses for transportation whenever possible.
