Attendance Information
The absence email will serve as both a call-in and note. You still should send in any doctor notes, funeral notices, etc. Please remember you only have six (6) parent notes per term. So anytime you take your child to the doctor, please ask for a note and send it to the attendance office the day the student returns to school.
An e-mail address has been established for attendance purposes. When students are absent, we ask that parents use the following email to report student absences:

To ensure that we are providing the best educational environment for our students, the Fairfield Freshman School has made character education an integral part of the school’s mission. The school has implemented Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) to teach and reinforce positive character traits such as respect, responsibility, and problem solving.
The most exciting part of the character building program is the “Brave Ticket” program. Students making choices that show respect, responsibility, or being a good problem solver are presented with a “Brave Ticket”. These tickets are put in a drawing and each week a student is selected for an award. In addition to the weekly awards several other incentives are planned throughout the year. Every three weeks one student will be selected in a special drawing to receive a Character Certificate and an MP3 player. Plus, a special honor will be provided for all students who receive a ticket during each nine week grading period. The special honor may include an awards breakfast or a gift certificate.

iPod Brave Ticket Winner
As part of the School’s character building program, any student making choices that show respect, responsibility, or being good problem solvers are presented with a "Brave Ticket". These tickets are put in a drawing and each week a student is selected for an award. In addition to the weekly award, approximately every 6 weeks there is a special IPod drawing. We would like to congratulate Brianna Ealum, our last Brave ticket and iPod winner for this school year. Brianna was nominated by Mr. Larry Price for responsibility. Congratulations Brianna.

Child Development Program:
Mrs. Dianas Knoth's Family and Consumer Science classes just concluded a child development unit where students had the opportunity to work with small children. During the “Big Buddy/ Little Buddy” program, ninth graders plan activities to work with young students. The little buddies benefit from the extra help and special activities provided by the freshmen and at the same time the freshmen learn firsthand about young children and their development. The ninth grade students worked with Mrs. Amy Runyan's kindergarten classes, Mrs. Henrietta Patton's first Grade class at Central Elementary. Great program!
Reality Day
The Freshman School will be presenting the 10th annual ”Reality Day Program” on May 25th. The program helps to show students the importance of household money management and the challenges that families face on a daily basis. They learn the value of planning for a career and developing life management skills.
A few days before the program students are given a list of careers from which to choose. They are also taught how to write checks and tally a checkbook. Upon entering the program, students are given an amount for their monthly salary, with a checkbook and recording book to keep track of their expenses. The students then visit all the life stations throughout the gym. The stations include: number of children (they draw a number out of a basket for this one), buying a house, buying a car, taxes, student loans, utilities, child care, groceries, entertainment, unexpected expenses, insurance, etc. Upon completion of the stations, students must have a positive balance. If they have a negative balance, they have to get a second job and go back to some of the stations and re-evaluate their choices, such as the house or car they purchased.
Students find this exciting and fun, but also an eye opener. It makes them appreciate their education as an important stepping stone toward their future career.
