This full term course is designed to assess students on the Academic Content Standards presented by the state of Ohio. Students will be evaluated on skills that are essential for a successful outcome on the Ohio Graduation Test (OGT). In the study of literature, students will be asked to develop their vocabulary and comprehension skills as they read both fiction and nonfiction. Students will also follow the elements of the writing process as preparation for the writing applications required at this level. Lastly, this English program will also incorporate instruction that aims to develop research and oral and visual communication skills. A full term of Ninth Grade English encompasses the following topics: grammar, literature, and composition.
