Students may begin their formal study of foreign languages in the middle school, which offers both exploratory and full-year courses. During high school, students may elect to study one or more languages, selecting from Spanish, French, Latin, and German. Foreign language classes are college preparatory classes. The goal of each course is to develop well-rounded language abilities, which includes speaking, reading, writing, and understanding the target language. College credit may be earned in each of these languages if students elect to take the Advanced Placement test.
