The Business Department at Fairfield Senior High School provides education and practical skills that help students make the transition from the life of a student to a life as a self-sufficient adult. To promote this transition, the Business Department offers elective courses that are specifically tailored to the world of employment and personal financial well-being. These include traditional business courses, such as Accounting, as well as well as courses in web design and desktop publishing. As the workplace responds to factors such as global competition and technological change, the Business Department adapts its content and methods to provide the most up-do-date and relevant education possible.
Students who desire a more specialized and intensive business education experience may choose to enroll in the Business Academy. The Business Academy is a two-year college preparatory program operated by Butler Tech at Fairfield Senior High School. Students may enter the Business Academy in their junior year. The program includes the basic foundations of business, as well as project-based learning that builds skills required for success in both college and the world of business. Seniors may earn college credit or advanced placement standing as a college freshman. Leadership skills are developed through participation in the Business Professionals of America student program.
