Paul Otten became the Fairfield School District’s superintendent on August 1, 2011 replacing Cathy Milligan upon her retirement.

Otten first joined the district in 1997 as a fifth-grade teacher at the Intermediate School. In 1999 he became an assistant principal, splitting his time between North and East elementary schools. In 2000 he became the assistant principal assigned only to North. Otten became a principal in 2001 at East Elementary and had a very successful tenure there.

In 2007 he moved to the Middle School, where he served as principal for the 2007-08 school year.

Otten became Assistant Superintendent on July 1, 2008 and held this position until 2011.
