Assistant Superintendent of Business:
Chad Lewis became the Fairfield City School District Assistant Superintendent of Business on July 1, 2008. In that position, he is responsible for all of the district’s classified employees.
Lewis first joined the district in 2005 as an assistant principal at the high school. In his three years at the high school, Mr. Lewis built strong relationships with all staff members and demonstrated a capacity for directing many of the tasks involved with running a large high school. That experience has served him well as he moved into the current position as business director.
Mission:
The mission of the Fairfield City School District Business Office is to develop and deliver sound business partnerships and practices, facilitate positive employee and community relations, and provide fiscal accountability for the district and on behalf of the Board of Education. We are focused on delivering superior customer service to the members of our community while being fiscally responsible with public resources.
Operations:
The Fairfield City School District Business Office manages the overall operation of ten schools and three support buildings, as well as athletic fields and complexes. The Business Office is also responsible for many of the systems and operations that are in place throughout the district including but not limited to phone systems, copy machines, cellular phone service, gas and electric services, mailing components, facility rental, accident claims and reimbursements, and multiple contracted services. The Assistant Superintendent of Business, in collaboration with the treasurer and superintendent, closely monitors the expenditures of the district and is the purchasing agent for the district. The school board empowers the business director to make purchases and secure business transactions on its behalf. The business director reports directly to the superintendent.
Business Office Staff:
The staff consists of the assistant superintendent of business, five supervisors, and one secretary. The receptionist at the Operations Building is also under the supervision of the Business Office. The Business Office also supervises the employees of four employee associations in the areas of clerical staff, maintenance and custodial, bus drivers, educational assistants, head cooks, head custodians, and food service assistants. This is approximately 500 employees.
