Roger Martin joined the district in 1994.  He taught English at the middle and senior high schools. He then served as an assistant principal at East and North elementary schools. Following this, Martin spent 11 years as principal at West Elementary School.  During the 2009-2010 school year he spent one year as principal at the Intermediate school before joining the curriculum department as curriculum director for the 2010-2011 school year. 

Martin holds a bachelor of science in secondary education and English from Florida's Southeastern College and a master's degree from the University of Dayton.

The assistant superintendent plays a key role in the district. He is responsible for staffing for all of the district’s certified educators, managing the recruiting, application, interviewing and selection process. He also oversees the evaluations of all the certified staff, is responsible for staff development programs, and manages the selection and training of substitute teachers, home instructors, summer school teachers, English as a second language tutors, and other certified personnel as needed.
